What We Believe

Statement of Faith

The following are those basic doctrines clearly taught in Holy Scripture and which have been generally held by the True, Historic Church throughout her witness to the world.

I. God is the Creator and Judge of all men, and Father of all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ.

II. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Godhead, only begotten Son of God, Redeemer of the World, and the One Mediator, through faith in Whom alone can we obtain forgiveness of sins and so be made right with God.

III. The Incarnation, virgin birth, death, resurrection, and second-coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

IV. The Deity and Personality of the Holy Spirit.

V. The fact of sin and the necessity of the Atonement made by the precious blood of Christ.

VI. The necessity of the new birth by the Holy Spirit for entrance into sonship as children of God, and finally into the promised inheritance in heaven.

As a local Baptist church in fellowship with other Baptist Churches within the Baptist Union of Great Britain we subscribe to the BAPTIST UNION DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLE which states…..

1. That our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh, is the sole and absolute authority in all matters pertaining to faith and practice, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures, and that each Church has liberty, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to interpret and administer His laws.

2. That Christian Baptism is the immersion in water into the Name of the Father and the Son, and the Holy Ghost, of those who have professed repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ who “died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again on the third day”.

3. That it is the duty of every disciple to bear personal witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and to take part in the evangelization of the world.
