Financing the project

next steps

How can we finance the work?

While we have a great financial start already, we believe God will provide what is needed through His people. All these sources will play a part in us reaching our goal.

  1. Gifts and regular giving from the church family (remember GiftAid)bouton donate online
  2. Gifts from friends of the church
  3. Fundraising (remember Easyfundraising too
  4. Grants
  5. Loan from the BUC (Baptist Union Corporation)
  6. Loans from the church family
  7. Non-financial giving

A letter has been sent to all the church family explaining the estimated costs of the plans and the way to contribute in more detail. If you think you can help and want to know more, a copy can be downloaded here.

If you want to make a regular payment or lump sum donation contact our treasurer, Peter Thatcher by clicking here for details of the Building Fund bank account.

What might the work cost?

The initial estimated costs of the work is £500,000. This can be broken down into the following broad categories:

Building costs (including contingency) 360,000
Remaining professional fees  30,000
Decoration and furniture  27,000
VAT  83,000

We plan to reduce the building costs by carrying out certain works ourselves, particularly in the rear rooms, and hopefully to remove the organ at no cost to ourselves. These savings could reduce the total building costs by approximately £15,000. Also as the church is a listed building, we hope to be able to reclaim much of the £83,000 VAT at a later date.

Ever since the first meeting house when the people of Bluntisham stepped out in faith, God has miraculously provided!  Our church has indeed seen God provide in numerous ways over that time. As we step out in faith on this project, we trust that the church family demonstrates its generosity and commitment to seeing the vision realised.
