Any Questions

next steps

What is happening at the moment?

December 2018 / January 2019 - Currently the planning documents are being worked on by the architects and the Next Steps team ready for initial discussions with Huntingdonshire District Council and the Baptist Union, prior to full applications being submitted.

All members of the church family have been written to for them to consider how they can support the project both financially and non- financially. Deadline for responses is mid January. Fundraising has also already started.

When will the building work commence?

Once planning permissions have been obtained, and the Finance Team decide the time is right, and the NS Team and Deacons agree, then, there will be a final proposal put to members asking whether they give approval to apply for a BU loan to finance the balance of the project costs, and to instruct the chosen contractors to commence the main build. The actual start date on site will then depend on the availability of the chosen contractor.

How will the church activities function during the period of building work?

Firstly, we hope to retain use of the church hall throughout the period of refurbishment. We also hope to minimise the amount of time that we are not able to use the main church building. We will explore possibilities of where we can hold regular Sunday services once we know just when the work will be carried out and how long it will take. The aim will be to keep as close to the church site as we can.

Underpinned With Prayer

next steps

As with any church project, prayer is the essential element that underpins Next Steps. We value your prayers and this page will give some prayer points for you to use including a downloadable guide.

Pray

Pray that as our old church starts on a new journey that it can be a beacon of hope in our villages

For an even bigger vision of how God can use this building and our lives to build His Kingdom here.

Pray to ask how we can be a blessing in our day in our time in the service of others and that we leave a legacy for those who will come after us.

Pray for God’s wisdom as we proceed - Proverbs 24:3-4 “By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; 4 through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.”

For the love required to encourage and build up one another during this process and for protection from frustration and friction as we travel this journey together.

That throughout this journey of redeveloping our buildings, we continue to love one another, even when we disagree and that we to do all we can to work for unity, be at peace & ensure bitterness is avoided. Hebrews 12:14-15 “Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. 15 See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many”

To help you know what you should give financially and for the faith that He will take care of your needs.

Please pray for the people involved in the practicalities of this project that:

  • they will have wisdom in their decisions
  • they and their families will be kept safe and healthy and protected
