Working with Children and Young People

banner safeguarding

Children and young people are part of our church today. They have much to give as well as to receive. As we nurture them in worship, learning, and in community life, we listen to them and respect the wishes and feelings of children and young people.

The Deacons recognise the need to provide a safe and caring environment for children and young people. We also acknowledge that children and young people can be the victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, and neglect. The membership of the church has therefore adopted the policy document below.

Responsible People

The church has appointed Lucy Thatcher as the Safeguarding Deacon to:

  • Advise the church on any matters related to the safeguarding of children and young people
  • Oversee and monitor implementation of the policy and procedures on behalf of the church’s charity trustees. (The Minister and the Deacons).

The church has appointed Helen Thatcher and Tim Williamson as Designated Persons for Safeguarding to take the appropriate action when abuse is disclosed, discovered or suspected.
