For several years the church ran a youth called 'Ignite'.
'Ignite'
was for anyone in school years
9-13 It started at 6.30 pm every Sunday night at Bluntisham Baptist Church until
roughly 9 pm and cost a very reasonable 50p (and to show our good will it was free
the first time you visit!)
'Ignite' was a group of about
15-20 teenagers who met together every week. We generally started the evening
with a short time of informal worship, led by a couple of members of the group, and then a talk on various things chosen by the
group. Other weeks we had discussion based evenings where we could voice our
opinions on the meaning of life (it maked us feel grown up) and also things not
quite so...mature.
'Ignite' got its name from a bible verse which says: 'Fan into flames the gift
of God, which is in you.' (2 Timothy 1:6) We felt it was important to explore the
gifts we have been given and 'Ignite'
was a safe, comfortable place where we could
'Ignite' the talents we have. So, were the rumours of tea and toast really true? Yes, they most certainly
were! Along with large bowls of coco pops and biscuits with very... creative home
designs. The evening was split into two halves and the second part was a chance to
chill out with our friends, play snooker, dance around brooms, anything that
tok ur fancy really! We funded the whole thing ourselves and the snack
supplies worked on a rota basis. |
