A Week of Prayer, and Setting New Goals
Wednesday: Seeking people

Scriptures: Jeremiah 29 verses 11-13
Part of the purpose of this week is to prepare ourselves as we seek God’s
will. May God fill our hearts with a desire to seek him and his will.
Are you ‘wholehearted’ in your seeking of God at present? If not, what’s
missing? What’s hindering you? What can you do to symbolise that you want to put
God first again?
Think about any times in your life up to now when you’ve felt God might be
leading you or guiding you. How did you sense God’s guidance? If you’re meeting
as a group, share your stories
Do you know of anyone who is particularly seeking or needing God’s guidance
in their life at present? Pray for them.
Pray and ask God to make us, individually and as a church, responsive to his
voice. Pray especially for our time together on Sunday, that we would sense him
speaking to us as we meet together.
You might use this prayer:
Lord, what do you want of us? We’ve sat in church and listened to your
Word. We’ve sung our songs and prayed our prayers And in obedience met
around your table. We’ve read our papers, watched the news And sometimes
shed a tear at the cruelties we see. Yet you want more? Lives moved to
action and commitment? Lives lived in service of others? Lives which
call you Lord And follow where you lead In work to bring the world to
life. Amen.
