5 Core Values

This sermon series was consciously a New Year refresher course. It’s an attempt at the beginning of a new year to get back to basics and remind ourselves about who we are and what we’re about as a church. It’s based on some material that’s been around for quite a few years now, produced by the Baptist Union of Great Britain – to which we belong as a church - where the question was asked: what are the core values that we’re called to live by as Christians, and as members of churches – Christian communities. So we looked at 5 values, which are drawn from the life of Jesus. Each of these have a claim to legitimacy as a ‘core value’, in that they are values which Jesus embodied in his own life. And we are followers of Jesus, so it is right that we embody and live out those values too, in our individual and family lives, and in our life as a Christian community together.
