World Mission
We support BMS World Mission, and especially Matt and Hannah Wilson, who with their children Ben and Kate, live in Tirana, Albania, and work in a church planting ministry. Mat and Hannah are from Histon in Cambridgeshire. This is their latest news: As part of the mission from our church, Hannah and 2 other women visit prison 325 twice a week. As many of you know Hannah is a Social Worker and last year she met an Albanian Christian Social Worker, called Rezarta, who was interested in working among the women prisoners. Through listening to the women in the prison and finding out their needs Hannah and Rezarta have set up a number of vocational projects to help the women gain some skills and qualifications. /p> There are now 4 vocational courses: English and Italian language, Sewing, Introductory IT computing class, Hair dressing workshop. The teachers for all these classes are provided from local schools and colleges. Examinations and assessments are also provided by the schools. Hannah’s aim is to provide for both the social and spiritual welfare of the women prisoners. Last November a group from our church began to support a monthly church service in the prison. In the last week a Bible Study group has also begun. These groups are led by volunteers from different church in Tirana. The work in Prison 325 is expanding but needs your prayers for the future long-term development. As Hannah says, projects are good but they must be sustainable. Please pray for this ongoing work. |
