 Prayer for the Team

Saturday

Please pray:

  • That Toby is well - he has been sick.
  • That Matt's son Ben is well - he has been sick 2 days now.
  • That the prison will be open to the church going back in.
  • That the work we have begun will continue

Friday

Please pray especially about weather tomorrow. There are 10 teams in the tournament.  Please pray that we will be a good witness in how we play and what we say and that God will continue to work through us as a team and individuals.

Give thanks for how we have been blessed so far. There have been opportunities for witness off the pitch.

Please pray that God will bless the team and Mat's church.  Also pray for protection for the team and their families and the church members and their families (especially for tomorrow)!

Thursday

Please pray for tomorrow (Friday), that they will have a good rest day and for their visit to Albanian families tomorrow night."

Tonight, they have an Evangelism Night at church and the prison visit was amazing (they all got out too!!)"

Tuesday Morning

Give thanks for a wonderful time of worship with the Way of Hope Church yesterday, amazing singing in both languages

We need prayers that the door will be open to the prison tomorrow (hopefully for the footballers not the inmates!!).

Pray to for the visit to the orphanage this morning and football tonight.

Check out the Tirana weather for the next few days on the BBC weather site by clicking here.

Monday Evening

The rain is a real issue as the Albanians won't attend any events if it is raining.  Please pray that the rain holds off this week.

Also, Mick hurt his ankle in the first game, please pray for healing. (The team are and there has been some progress, but more is needed).

For praise:
They had a good mini service and even sang in Albanian.  They also taught them the actions to 'We want to see Jesus lifted high'.

Monday morning:

Thanks for the encouragement of knowing that you are praying for us:

Please give thanks for safe journey, thanks for excellent accommodation, great showers.

Please pray that it stops raining.

Pray that we get a chance to get into 2 prisons, that the doors will be open to us.

Please pray for boldness to be able to share our faith.

Other Prayer Requests are:

The game against Histon, the money raised and sportsman like nature with which the game was played

The families of those who are going for any practicalities during the week and their safety

For the players health now and while we’re away

For the responsibilities each player has that they will go smoothly

That each player will grow in faith as they share with the church and in the communities in Tirana

For Matt, Hannah, Ben & Katherine that it will be an encouragement for us being there personally, to their ministry and to the church

For the publicity they’ve helped arrange so far that it will have been a good witness and give opportunities in the future (with newspapers and sponsorship

For Malc as Tour Manager for the work he’s put in and all the practicalities going smoothly

For Nick as he ministers to the team and also for preaching on the Saturday night, hopefully

For Gary as he joins us that he fits in and as he brings his experience from working with Christians in Football to assist us.  Thanks for the opportunity last year to get to know him and his valuable input so far

For Russell and Nath as team captains, for good leadership and they'll enjoy the roles

For the Way of Hope Church. Details are on the website, but that we’d really aid their outreach programmes.

We’d be an encouragement to a church where the average age is 25.

We’d be a good witness on behalf of our own church

That we work together well as a team and manage any practical difficulties that occur living in a different culture

For Matt, Hannah, Ben and Katherine that we’ll be a great encouragement to them in going. To their ministry, to them personally and to the church.

The unity of the team as we’re out there and the growth in our faith, being able to share our testimonies when we return.
