World Mission

Representing God locally, nationally and globally, by participating in His mission through praying, giving and going.

As a Baptist Church committed to world mission, our primary partnership is with BMS World Mission.

bms logoBMS is a leading Christian mission organisation and aims to share life in all its fullness with the world's peoples by:

•  Enabling them to know Christ

•  Alleviating suffering and injustice

•  Improving the quality of life

With people as their primary agent of change - motivating, training, sending and resourcing them.

Bluntisham Baptist Church is a member of the Cambridgeshire Baptist Missionary Fellowship (CBMF) and represented on the EBA Mission Task Force.  A copy of the CBMF 2016 Prayer Points can be read here

Our Church has a real passion for mission and over the years we have developed several links in the overseas mission field.

This video for 2016 is from our friends in Tirana, Albania, please remember them in your prayers.

Through the football ministry, teams have gone out to Albania and worked in co-operation with the Way of Hope Church in Tirana, here is a video taken during our visit in 2009.

As a result of our work in world mission two of our members felt called to serve and so in 2012 we were delighted to commission and send Malcolm and Sue White into a health ministry with BMS. They served at a hospital in Chad with Sue working as a nurse and Malc overseeing the running of the hospital. During their time at the Guinebor II Hospital in N’Djamena in very difficult circumstances they helped to improve the medical facilities and training for the local staff and were heavily involved in the establishment of a new maternity unit. Malc and Sue returned to work in the UK in August 2015.

In the autumn of 2012 there was a week-long group visit to assist missionaries in Donetsk, Ukraine. During their visit the team made this video showing some of the places they visited and people they met.

As a result of this first trip members of the team were inspired to raise funds to support the work of the SOS Mission Centre which is building a safe home for orphans with the net result being a donation of £2,400. A second visit in October 2013 was just as challenging as the first and the team met with some inspiring Christian workers who live out their faith in very practical ways. Unfortunately due to the conflict in the Ukraine the team have not been able to visit again although contact is maintained with friends who remain in the region. Ben, Angela and Annalise who were our mission contacts in Donetsk escaped to the UK to continue some of their work from a distance.

Individual church members have worked in other countries such as Burma, Thailand and Kenya plus we are always interested in mission in all its aspect – supporting around 40 different organisations within the fellowship.

A team of six visited Albania in June 2015 to support the Way of Hope Church in Tirana and to work in the GDQ School. As always it was an action packed week, combining church, football and end of term activities plus of course meeting with many old friends. Gary and Susan Anderson who we have worked with for many years in Tirana have now moved back to the UK.

Our church partner Anne continues to work closely with organisations supporting the vulnerable and marginalised in N. Africa. These organisations are poorly funded and the need is great so please always remember Anne in your prayers.

In 2016 we will be looking at our Mission Strategy as part of a new BMS initiative which is perfect timing due to the changes with our mission partners in the second half of 2015.

If you are interested in either short or long term mission then please speak to Malcolm who would be happy to help you discover the opportunities in line with your calling.
